Day 19 Cycle to Suswa
General life got in the way of the expedition for a little while but now Daniel and Tom are back on the road. The picture above is of us setting off exactly where we finished our last leg, somewhere near Olorgeseile.
We have decided to skirt around Nairobi in its entirety and stick in the Rift Valley and head up to Suswa. From there we will make our way up the Rift.
Daniel had a technical issue with his bike after 20 metres. The new and improved straps he had for his "fork bags" came loose but were luckily fixable. The first 50 minutes cycling seemed really hard for Tom. The track was bad and there were quite a few hills.
But then we hit a good stretch and made time before stopping off for a chapatti. Lucky we did, because it was the only place we saw all day.
Here are the chappo ladies
Ahead we had the grind up Mt. Suswa. We are camping inside the crater (it was 10km from the side of the rim where we arrived to our campsite) and pitched tents on the edge of the caldera, which falls away below us.
Someone asked if we would have taken any other kit last time. Yes, a chair each, which Daniel is doing a fine job of modelling here.
Luckily he got the supper on the go and eaten because and hour later the heavens have opened and we are holed up in out tents, testing their waterproofness. We saw the wave of cloud head towards us with about 5 mins warning.
Good start dudes. Xx
